The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee

Tuesday 1st May 2012

Many thanks and congratulations to Carol & Geoff Hewson who were representing Landford at the Jubilee visit to Salisbury by Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip. You can see a selection of photos from that day by clicking on Salisbury Jubilee Visit .

Come and join us on Tuesday 5th June 2012
for a Picnic on Landford Recreation Ground

Diamond Jubilee LogoBring your own picnic and picnic chair or blanket.

There’s no charge for this community event, though you might want to bring along a little cash for a drink or to join in the raffle.

The Ladies of Landford are once again arranging gazebos – just in case the weather doesn’t play ball. We will also have tea, coffee and cakes on sale in the pavilion and the Landford Poacher is providing an outside bar.

Last year the we organised a similar picnic to celebrate the Royal Wedding. The games went down well so we’ve organised a whole range of activities. It won’t cost you anything to join in, though you may get roped in to help!

Our line up of activities include:

12.00  Pick up your Royal Quiz forms – they will be available right through the event.

12.15 – 3.00 Scavenger Hunts – – open to young people up to 12 years old

1.30   We have bought and planted a Pin Oak Tree from Landford Trees to commemorate the jubilee. There will be a very special person coming to commemorate the tree by uncovering the plaque. We hope you will all enjoy this tree’s vibrant colours in the autumn.

1.40  Fun races and wellie throwing for adults and children. And maybe a tug of war.

3.00  The Parish Council have donated a celebration cake which we will be cutting and sharing amongst all the picknickers.

3.15   The Royal Hat Parade. Of course you do need to think about this in advance. Open to children and adults, we look forward to seeing all of your home-made creations on a royal theme.

3.45  Winners will be announced.

4.00 We’ll start packing up

If you or someone you know would like to come along and needs help with transport, please contact John Martin (of the Link Scheme) on 01794 390558.

The weather was surprisingly kind to us last year and there was a great deal of fun and laughter. It’s worth a look at the full  photo gallery.

Please leave a comment if you’d like to help on the day.

Lovely photos of the Royal Visit to Salisbury. So glad you were able to showcase all that Landford has to offer. You both looked jolly smart too – did the Queen stop for a chat?
