The Senior Village Garden Party

About 25 senior citizens from the village attended the garden party organised by St Andrews Church and Landford Methodist Church (held in Landford Methodist Hall because of the unpredictable weather). We all enjoyed the afternoon – a superb variety of sandwiches and cakes, good conversation with friends and a sing song with songs from 60 years ago.  Many people brought items from the 1950’s such as photos, books and even a Coronation mug. Litter Picking

Hardly an “Event” as such, but teams of local volunteers do occasionally don fluorescent jackets and walk along the roads searching for litter. Any pictures are listed below.
On Sunday 24th June 2012, a group of volunteers tackled the lay-by on the A36 close to Golden Acres. The verges were head height in nettles hiding the many items of litter, including used disposable nappies! The ditch was full of bottles and cans of every variety. The two ponds have become rather overgrown, but are littered with other rubbish thrown over the fence. Items recovered included old tyres, a TV set, broken vehicle body panels and much else. Thanks due to WC refuse collection team for collecting the bags of rubbish speedily the following day. To see pictures click on Litter Pick, June 2012
